So I've been thinking about how non-productive it is to decline submissions.
I'm thinking that instead of having a black and white accept/decline way of going about submissions, we should have a Critique Folder as a middle-man. That way people can get opinions on their pieces, and get a few different points of view of how they're doing as a writer, and possible ways they could improve.
So people would have the opportunity of submitting to the critique folder. All pieces would be automatically accepted. Then I could have some co-founders as well as myself going through all the pieces and leaving critiques. If the writer wanted to, they could edit the piece. After editing, I could read through it again, and accept or decline based on the new piece.
Or, if people didn't want to have critiques, they could still just submit to the normal folders, where it would undergo the same black/white process as I've used in the past.
So, submissions could either look like:
poem > critique folder > edited poem > accept/decline to normal folder
poem >accept/decline to normal folder
